Initial Progress:
The Photo Contest is Complete:
The final 10 photos were narrowed down, via an appointed committee, from the 70 photos that were entered. The final 10 photos were then displayed in the Summers County Courthouse annex and were voted on by the public. John Vuolo's "Sunset on Freezeland Mountain," was the winner and will be the representative photo for the plan. However, all photos that were entered may be used in future projects for the county.
In Draft Mode:
The subcommittees comprise a larger steering committee that literally "steers," the plan in the right direction. The "divide and conquer," system was used to accomplish a lot of work in a small amount of time. The subcommittees have been diligently working on their respective section of the comprehensive plan. The semi-final draft will be discussed and displayed during a final set of community meetings to receive any input or suggestions from the citizens of Summers County before the final draft is subjected to approval by the county planning commission. After the comprehensive plan is approved the county must adopt it before it goes into effect.
Community Meetings Coming Up Soon:
The upcoming community meetings will be announced via this blog and the local Hinton, WV Newspaper.
